Mercedes-Benz showcases personalized and MBUX Sound Drive at CES event
Mercedes-Benz is making waves at CES 2024 with the unveiling of its latest in-car technology, the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system. This advanced technology, set to roll out globally from mid-2024, will be available on Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with the second-generation MBUX system.
At the heart of MBUX is the MBUX Virtual Assistant, a human-like interface that uses generative AI and proactive intelligence to make life easier. The assistant offers helpful suggestions based on learned behavior and situational context, making interactions more natural and intuitive.
The MBUX Virtual Assistant is powered by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), a comprehensive system that comprises four domains: Infotainment, Automated Driving, Body & Comfort, Driving & Charging, and a connectivity module linked to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud.
One of the key features of MBUX is MBUX SOUND DRIVE, an industry-first partnership with will.i.am. This innovative music experience delivers a ground-breaking interactive music experience, with software that allows music to react to the way the car is being driven, creating a harmonious relationship between motion and melody.
The MBUX Virtual Assistant is designed to be more than just a voice assistant. It is underpinned by four 'personality traits': Natural, Predictive, Personal, and Empathetic. These traits ensure the assistant is capable of complex multi-part dialogues, short-term memory, and providing intelligent, personalized interactions.
The MBUX Virtual Assistant will also feature AI-supported navigation with features like charging station reservation and route planning that considers topography and weather.
The Concept CLA Class offers a close-to-production insight into the future range of four vehicles, all running on MB.OS. The first vehicles to run on MB.OS will be the family based on the forthcoming MMA platform.
Other exciting features of MBUX include MBUX Collectibles, Mercedes-Benz's first in-car app to showcase digital art and collectibles based on NFTs, enabling the creation of a private art gallery by connecting the customer's personal NFT wallet to the user interface.
Video streaming offerings will be enhanced by an integration of Sony Pictures Entertainment's RIDEVU service, providing access to a diverse array of video entertainment directly within Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The advanced three-display MBUX Superscreen hints at the role of future Mercedes-Benz vehicles as a hyper-personalized part of the customer's digital life. Over-the-air (OTA) updates ensure customers have access to the latest content and features tailored to their wishes and regional preferences.
Visitors at CES 2024 can head outside to the MBUX SOUND DRIVE stand at the Diamond Lot and book an experience in a Mercedes-AMG EQE Sedan or EQE SUV. A presentation on MBUX SOUND DRIVE will take place on January 9 at 2:30 PM PST at the Mercedes-Benz booth.
With the MBUX system, Mercedes-Benz is taking a significant step towards creating a more intuitive and personalized in-car experience for its customers. The future of automotive technology is here, and it's Mercedes-Benz leading the charge.
