Microsoft Revamps Xbox Game Pass: New Tiers, Perks, and Price Changes

Microsoft has revamped its Xbox Game Pass subscription service, introducing new tiers and price adjustments. The restructuring, effective October 1, 2025, brings a rebranding of Game Pass Core to Game Pass Essential, along with new perks for subscribers.

Game Pass Essential now offers access to over 50 games, including Xbox Cloud Gaming. Meanwhile, Xbox Cloud Gaming has exited its beta phase, now supporting 1440p resolution and enhanced bitrates for select titles.

The Game Pass Ultimate tier, previously $19.99, has seen a 50% price increase to $29.99. This tier now provides access to over 400 titles, including Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics. Subscribers also gain 1,000 V-Bucks monthly starting November 18 and access to over 75 launch day titles annually. Additionally, they can earn up to $100 per year by gaming.

The PC Game Pass plan has increased by 38% to $16.49 monthly. This tier offers access to approximately 50 Ubisoft titles. The Game Pass Premium tier remains at $14.99, providing access to over 200 games and unlimited Xbox Cloud Gaming.

New titles added to Game Pass Ultimate include those from Epic Games' Fortnite Crew subscription and Ubisoft through the Ubisoft Plus Classics collection. Upcoming new releases available on Game Pass Ultimate at launch include Tiny Archer (October 1), Galacticon (October 2), and King of Meat (October 2).

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass restructuring brings enhanced gaming experiences and new perks for subscribers, with price adjustments across tiers. The service continues to expand its library, now offering over 400 titles, and improves its cloud gaming capabilities.
