The automotive industry is abuzz with the return of a beloved name, as Mitsubishi Motors unveils the **2025 Mitsubishi Grandis**. This time, the Grandis transitions from a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to a modern, family-focused compact SUV, sharing the CMF-B platform within the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

### Key Features and Specifications

**1. Powertrains**

The new Grandis will be offered in two engine options: a mild hybrid (MHEV) and a full hybrid (HEV).

- The MHEV variant is equipped with a 1.3-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine, producing approximately 140 PS (103 kW). Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (7DCT), with front-wheel drive only.

- The full hybrid (HEV) model combines a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine with electric technology, generating 109 PS (80 kW) and 170 Nm. The HEV is supplemented by an electric 36 kW main motor (50 PS), a 15 kW starter motor (20 PS), a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion traction battery, and an intelligent multi-mode automatic transmission. The combined output of the full hybrid model is 156 PS (115 kW).

The different drive modes and power delivery are optimized according to the power demand, offering a seamless driving experience. Notably, the full hybrid Grandis allows electric driving up to a speed of 70 km/h, and in city traffic, up to 80% of trips can be made in electric mode. The driver can manually select the "E-Save" mode to keep the traction battery state of charge above 40% and ensure sufficient energy for pure electric driving.

**2. Interior and Practicality**

The interior of the new Grandis, largely the same as the French model, boasts an Android-based infotainment system. Seating five passengers, the second-row seats feature a 160 mm sliding function to adjust legroom or increase luggage space. Luggage capacity ranges from 434 litres (seats slid rearwards) to 566 litres (seats slid forward), expanding up to 1,455 litres with rear seats folded flat. Additional features include a power remote opening tailgate with hands-free operation via foot sensor (keyfob required) and a panoramic electrochromic glass roof with adjustable shading.

**3. Infotainment and Connectivity**

The new Grandis is equipped with a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) touchscreen, featuring Google Built-in support including Google Assistant, Maps, and Play. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility are also included.

**4. Safety and Driving Assistance**

The new Grandis comes with a full Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, complete with ultrasonic sensors, cameras, and forward radar for active safety measures.

**5. Design and Platform**

With a tall, lean, and sculpted exterior, the new Grandis features a “floating roof” design and modern lighting trademark. The vehicle shares the CMF-B platform with Renault and Nissan models, reflecting European design influences, such as the Renault Captur. Both powertrain variants feature a front-wheel drive layout.

In summary, the 2025 Mitsubishi Grandis full hybrid model offers a balanced powertrain combining a 1.8-litre petrol engine and electric motors, producing a combined 115 kW output, with advanced energy management modes and a smart transmission. It balances modern technology, practical family-oriented interior flexibility, and comprehensive safety features, making it a well-equipped compact hybrid SUV for the European market and beyond.

Mitsubishi has not yet revealed the exact start date and price of the new Grandis. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the compact SUV market.
