Moldova's Trans-Oil Group secures permits for purchasing Constanta port terminals
Moldovan agro-industrial conglomerate Trans-Oil Group, led by Vaja Jhashi, has secured regulatory approvals from Romanian authorities to finalize the acquisition of Frial SA, an operator based in the Port of Constanța. The approvals came following evaluations by the Romanian government, the Competition Council, and the Commission for the Examination of Foreign Direct Investments (CEISD).
Through its Romanian subsidiary, Aragvi Sea Terminal SRL, Trans-Oil will acquire a majority stake in Frial SA. The company's operations encompass two terminals within the Port of Constanța, one handling solid and general bulk cargo, the other specializing in liquid products and vegetable oils. These assets are crucial for exporting agricultural goods via the Black Sea.
Regulatory authorities described the acquisition as transparent, legal, and advantageous. In a statement, Trans-Oil Group expressed gratitude towards Romanian authorities for their support and confidence, crediting the approvals as a validation of their "sustainable business model" and commitment to "regional development, operational efficiency, and enduring partnerships."
The acquisition, initially agreed upon in October 2024, forms a key part of Trans-Oil Group's logistics expansion strategy. The integration of Frial's port infrastructure aims to boost efficiency in grain and oilseed transport, storage, and export operations, ultimately enhancing the group's competitive edge in the Black Sea region.
