Investigation Launched by Münster's Public Prosecutor's Office into Ex-Chairman of Integrative Kindergarten over Financial Misconduct

An investigation has been initiated by the public prosecutor's office in Münster against the former chairman of an inclusive kindergarten, who is alleged to have embezzled approximately 700,000 euros from the club's funds. The kindergarten, located at the "Heinrich-Piepmeyer-Haus," caters to around 70 children, many of whom have physical or mental disabilities.

Currently, the club's funds are severely depleted, according to the lead prosecutor. The club account now holds only a paltry sum of 52 euros. The suspect, a teacher from Münster, had suggested transferring club funds to another account to secure higher interest rates. This proposal was accepted by the parents on the board. However, the suspect allegedly diverted the funds to a private account for personal use, totaling around 670,000 euros, with an additional 30,000 euros siphoned directly from the club account for personal expenses.

During an extraordinary general meeting, members were informed about the allegations. Minutes from the meeting, obtained by a local radio station, hinted at the suspect's "high criminal energy." The suspect is said to have pretended that the second chairman of the club also had access to the new account, thereby circumventing the four-eye principle.

The suspect has yet to comment on the allegations, instead referring to their lawyer. Upon request, the lawyer merely stated that he could not make a comment at the present time.

In March, law enforcement, in addition to seizing a private vehicle, searched the suspect's home as part of asset seizure. On this occasion, the suspect reportedly claimed to have invested the money in highly speculative stocks. However, he chose to withhold this information from the club members, believing they would not approve.

The incident has significant consequences for the kindergarten's operation, with the daily business reportedly strained. Urgent renovation projects, such as the renovation of the playground, have been postponed due to the financial strain.

The investigation by the public prosecutor's office in Münster has expanded to include potential financial mismanagement in the club's business, with the suspect's alleged diversion of funds affecting the general news and crime-and-justice categories. Despite the severe depletion of the club's funds, the former chairman, a teacher from Münster, had proposed transferring club funds to another account for higher interest rates, a suggestion that led to the embezzlement of approximately 700,000 euros from club funds and further siphoning of 30,000 euros for personal expenses.
