Multinational consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble names Shailesh Jejurikar as its new chief executive officer.
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced a leadership shuffle, with Indian-born executive Shailesh Jejurikar set to take over as President and CEO, effective January 1, 2026. The current COO of P&G, Jejurikar will succeed Jon Moeller, who will transition to an Executive Chairman role.
Jejurikar, an alumnus of Mumbai University and IIM Lucknow, joined P&G in 1989 and has held many leadership roles globally. He has been serving as Chief Operating Officer since 2021, overseeing key business functions like IT, Sales, Manufacturing, and Distribution, as well as Enterprise Markets including Latin America, India, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Under Jejurikar’s leadership, P&G is expected to continue its legacy of innovation, sustainability, and market leadership in the global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. His tenure is noted for a focus on AI-driven research and development, supply chain modernization, consumer-centric agility, and a commitment to sustainability initiatives.
Jejurikar’s background includes being the former CEO of P&G’s Fabric & Home Care division, an almost $30 billion portfolio featuring brands like Tide, Ariel, Downy, Febreze, and Swiffer. His leadership style is described as consumer-focused and operationally excellent, with extensive experience in market expansion especially in emerging markets pivotal for P&G's future growth.
With Jejurikar’s appointment, Moeller will transition to Executive Chairman, serving as strategic advisor and chair of the board. This move ensures leadership continuity as Jejurikar takes the helm. Moeller leaves behind a strong track record and legacy at P&G, where the company ranks 149 on the Fortune 500 and is 19th on the World’s Most Admired Companies list.
P&G's recent performance highlights resilience, strong shareholder returns, and sustainability-driven sales representing about 40% of revenue. In the first quarter of fiscal 2026, there will be mid-single-digit price increases affecting about a quarter of P&G's items due to tariffs and innovation.
P&G's board awarded Jejurikar long-term equity valued at $14 million, and he stands to earn a potential bonus valued at $3.2 million. Jejurikar's annual salary will be $1.6 million.
Andre Schulten, the CFO of P&G, made these statements during a media call. In a company statement, Jon Moeller expressed confidence in P&G’s growth and value creation. Joe Jimenez, lead independent director on P&G’s board, praised Moeller's strategic leadership and guidance.
Jejurikar's ascension marks a notable milestone as he becomes one of the few Indian-origin executives leading a major US multinational, underlining the increasing globalization of leadership in global corporations.
