Vietnam International Sourcing 2025: A Gateway to Global Markets

The upcoming Vietnam International Sourcing (VIS) 2025, scheduled for September 4-6 in HCM City, promises to be a significant event for businesses seeking to expand their global reach. With over 400 Vietnamese enterprises showcasing more than 12,000 products across four key sectors, the event is set to provide a vibrant platform for international buyers to explore new opportunities.

Tạ Hoàng Linh, Director General of the Department of International Market Development, highlighted the importance of VIS 2025 at a seminar titled "Việt Nam International Sourcing: Your Business Gateway to Global Markets" held in HCM City on August 1. The seminar emphasised the potential of Vietnam as a sourcing destination and the opportunities available for businesses looking to tap into global markets.

In addition to the exhibition, international buyers will have the chance to visit factories, raw material zones, and experience local tourism during VIS 2025. This unique blend of business and cultural experiences is expected to attract more than 300 sourcing delegations from 60 countries and territories.

One such delegation is Lulu Group's May Exports, which plans to participate in the VIS 2025 to source more agricultural products, particularly cashews and coffee. Mirash Basheer, director of May Exports, notes that Vietnamese products are well received in the Middle East thanks to their quality and competitive pricing.

Pagoda Group, one of China's leading fruit retailers, is another prominent participant. Pagoda Group sources fruits from certified farms and large-scale processing facilities in Vietnam and aims to maintain stable procurement, expand its fruit portfolio, optimise the supply chain, and encourage standardisation in cultivation and processing to improve quality and productivity.

The event will also provide businesses with insights into global consumption trends and regulatory changes in export markets through specialised conferences held alongside the exhibition. These conferences are designed to help businesses navigate the complexities of international trade and stay competitive in the global market.

The Vietnamese government has launched initiatives to help enterprises diversify markets, products, and distribution channels in response to global disruptions such as pandemics, geopolitical conflicts, and inflation. Key initiatives include comprehensive reforms in customs procedures, Vietnam's macroeconomic strategy focusing on transitioning from a manufacturing-driven to a consumption- and innovation-led economy, and the country's trade performance showing strong export growth.

Giorgio Armani, chief operating officer for Asia (Hong Kong) at Giorgio Armani, praises Vietnam as an increasingly attractive sourcing destination amid the global shift toward sustainable fashion. Attracting more investment in material production, particularly fabric, would strengthen the country's supply chain, helping businesses reduce lead times, control quality, and improve profitability.

Central Retail, a leading retailer in Vietnam, emphasises that successful exports to international supermarket chains also depend on professional packaging and strong brand storytelling. Success in new markets requires meeting their specific standards, according to Tạ Hoàng Linh. Enterprises must study these requirements carefully and tailor their products accordingly.

VIS 2025 will be held in conjunction with the Export Forum 2025 and the HCM City International Travel Expo, forming a unique cross-sectoral platform to promote both trade and tourism. Pagoda Group plans to cooperate with Vietnamese partners to enter new markets such as the Middle East and East Asia. Walmart, the largest retail corporation in the US, also plans to continue sending sourcing delegations to Vietnam.

Tạ Hoàng Linh stressed the importance of diversification for Vietnamese businesses and suggested exploring emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and West Asia. With initiatives like VIS 2025, Vietnam is well-positioned to strengthen its global trade links and continue its growth as a significant player in the international market.
