Altai Region Sees Increase in Bankruptcies and Debt, Affecting Local Economy
In the year 2024, 73 businesses in the Altai region faced bankruptcy, amassing a combined debt of 841 million rubles, as revealed by the NGS22.RU portal, citing the regional FNS. This figure represents a portion of the 238 bankruptcy applications submitted to the arbitration court, with a total claim amount of 2.1 billion rubles, according to reports.
A majority of the 238 cases, 182 to be exact, didn't proceed to liquidation because the companies in question didn't possess any recoverable assets. Currently, 17 applications remain, totaling 300 million rubles, in pending court proceedings.
The trade sector was the most frequent initiator of bankruptcy procedures, accounting for 23% of all applications. The processing industry followed close behind with 15%, while construction and housing sectors accounted for nearly the same percentage, at 14%.
The bankruptcies in the Altai region resulted in the return of approximately 410 million rubles to the region's budget in 2024.
While the specific reasons for a potential increase in credit delinquencies among Altai region residents in 2024 could not be pinpointed with certainty from the available data, some general factors include economic downturn, rising cost of living, increased borrowing, and adverse weather or agricultural conditions. However, it's crucial to note that these factors are speculative and more targeted sources would be necessary to confirm the exact trends in the Altai region.
The finance sector might be affected as the high number of bankruptcies in the Altai region has led to a combined debt of 841 million rubles. The trade sector, processing industry, construction and housing sectors seem to be the main contributors to the increased bankruptcy cases, accounting for a majority of the applications.
