Narrow Roadways Affecting Larger Buses in VG Rhein-Selz: now mandating smaller buses

In a significant development, the 'Uelversheim Ort' bus stop will once again be served regularly as part of the public transportation adjustments in the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz. These adjustments are intended to enhance the overall public transportation offering in the region.

The public transportation adjustments are a collaborative effort between the transportation company Kommunalverkehr Rhein-Nahe (KRN) and the Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund (RNN). The changes are not limited to the deployment of compact Sprinters on lines 643 and 644, but also include other improvements aimed at improving connectivity and service.

The compact Sprinters, known for their ability to navigate narrow local streets better, will replace the current 12-meter buses on lines 643 and 644. The operator of the Sprinter minibuses in the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz is Eberhard Reisen.

Marco Remy, Deputy Manager and Head of Transport Planning at RNN, stated that their aim is to provide a tailored offering for the people on the ground. He further added that the use of compact Sprinters is intended to improve the public transportation offering in the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz.

The deployment of minibuses is expected to be particularly significant in the mountainous communities of the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz, where the narrow streets can pose challenges for larger vehicles. The changes in public transportation are also expected to result in improved turnaround possibilities and a reduction in noise pollution for residents.

RNN regularly reviews and develops existing transport structures in collaboration with local authorities. These adjustments to public transportation in the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz are in accordance with the public transportation concept for the Mainz-Bingen district, which was introduced in August 2022.

The Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund (RNN) has announced that minibuses will be deployed on lines 643 and 644 in the Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz. This improvement is expected to be a significant step towards providing a better overall public transportation offering in the region.
