Nestlé Purina Powers Atlanta Plant with Solar, Cuts CO2 Emissions
Nestlé Purina PetCare has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the installation of a solar array at its Atlanta petfood manufacturing facility. The company has donated to the local community and aims to reduce its carbon footprint.
The solar array, consisting of nearly 1,900 panels, produces over 585,000 kilowatt hours of clean solar energy annually. This is enough to power nearly 52 average-sized homes or about 5,000 light bulbs for a year. The solar energy generated will power various equipment in the petfood production facility.
In celebration of the solar array, Nestlé Purina donated US$5,000 to the Douglas County, Georgia, K9 Unit. This demonstrates the company's commitment to not only reducing its environmental impact but also supporting the local community. The carbon offset of the solar array is approximately 16 million pounds of CO2 emissions reduction.
Nestlé Purina PetCare's solar array in Atlanta is a notable initiative in the company's journey towards sustainability. By harnessing solar energy and reducing its carbon footprint, Nestlé Purina is setting a positive example for the industry while supporting the local community.
