New leadership at PPL: Sikandar Ali Memon named as CEO and Managing Director
New CEO Appointed at Pakistan Petroleum Limited
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced the appointment of Sikandar Ali Memon as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), effective from September 21, 2025.
Memon, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of diverse international and national leadership experience in oil and gas production, has worked with leading companies such as British Petroleum (BP), Aramco, Petronas, Occidental Petroleum, and United Energy Pakistan (UEP).
Before joining PPL, Memon held key positions in international E&P companies. He served as the Manager of Petroleum Engineering and Operations at ADNOC Group UAE, Head of the Technical Support Unit at Saudi Aramco, and Senior Production Technologist at Petronas, Malaysia. At BP Pakistan, he served as a Senior Staff Engineer. His last assignment before joining PPL was with UEP as Head of Production Engineering and Technology.
Memon started his tenure with PPL on November 1, 2023, as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). His appointment as CEO/MD is temporary, until a regular CEO is appointed or his retirement.
The Board of Directors (BoD) of PPL approved Memon's appointment at a meeting held on September 19, 2025. The statement regarding his appointment was issued on September 17, 2025, and made public through a statement.
Imran Abbasy, the outgoing CEO, successfully concluded his three-year tenure with PPL on September 20, 2025. The BoD of PPL appreciated Abbasy's services and wished him all the best for the future.
Sikandar Ali Memon holds a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Sindh. He has also attended advanced-level courses in petroleum engineering at the Petroleum Institute Abu Dhabi, UAE.
With this appointment, PPL aims to further strengthen its position in the oil and gas sector and continue its commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions.
