Parking woes at Elisabethmarkt gotta be sorted, at least that's the city's plan. To tackle the issue, a fresh arrangement has been approved by the BA 4:
Schwabing-West - Dauerbrenner Parkraummanagement: In the Mobility Department's (MOR) latest meeting, they threw their hat into the ring for short-term parking during the day and mixed parking in the evenings in Nordendstraße. But when it comes to Arcisstraße, the BA is tight-fisted with pure resident parking spots.
After a bit of renovation at Elisabethplatz and Nordendstraße 29/31, the parking scene is getting a facelift, MOR promised. With the permanent closure of Elisabethplatz north of Agnesstraße eliminating short-term parking spots, they'll be making up for it at Nordendstraße. Here's the scoop: From Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm, short-term parking with a ticket will be allowed for up to two hours to let customers of Elisabethmarkt drive-up during business hours.
From 6 pm to 11 pm, it's a free-for-all for everyone with a ticket, while residents can park with their permits for no additional fees after 6 pm. The move's all good, as it doesn't discriminate against any user and provides sufficient parking spots for resident permit holders. The BA groupie vote was unanimous.
The BA did proclaim, though, that pure resident parking should reign on the east side of Arcisstraße from house number 80 northwards to Agnesstraße. But, they vetoed this plan. Different strokes for different folks, right? Unlike Nordendstraße, where shops are abound and residents can access a complete underground parking garage, Arcisstraße is all residential buildings.
A few days back, some residents gathered for an info session, asking the BA to swing for pure resident parking there. They figured schlepping their car at 9 am to make room for short-term parking zones was downright unreasonable. The BA's penning a letter to the MOR about this matter. "A fair balance that's good for both Elisabethmarkt toe-tappers and neighborhood residents is key," said BA's big cheese, Gesa Tiedemann.
