Office Building Developments Finalized at Moritzplatz in Kreuzberg
New Commercial Ensemble "The Shelf" and "The Grid" Nearing Completion in Berlin-Kreuzberg
In early 2022, a new commercial ensemble, named "The Shelf", was completed on a plot of around 1,900 square meters at Ritterstraße 16 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The architectural concept for The Shelf came from kadawittfeldarchitektur, while the Cologne-based real estate company Pandion AG was responsible for its implementation.
Adjacent to The Shelf, another completed project by Pandion AG, "The Grid", can be found. These two buildings, along with a new, landscaped inner courtyard that is accessible to the public, form a modern and inviting urban space near Moritzplatz.
The construction of The Shelf had to consider the U-Bahn tunnel of line U8, which crosses the plot underground. A steel hollow profile support was built to relieve the underlying tunnel structure and allow the floors above to be built on it. The design includes a metal facade reminiscent of stacked frames, floor-to-ceiling glass surfaces, balconies, terraces, and loggias.
The Shelf offers office spaces for traditional companies, start-ups, and creatives. It boasts a contemporary and flexible work environment, ideal for businesses seeking a dynamic and innovative setting.
Meanwhile, another new office building is nearing completion at Ritterstraße 16. This building, designed by Richter Musikowski Architects and implemented by Hirsch & Lorenz Ingenieurbau, also has seven floors for office space.
In addition to these projects in Kreuzberg, other commercial developments are planned for Koloniestraße in Gesundbrunnen and the "Dockyard Waterfront Offices" in Friedrichshain. The "Glance" project at the Spreebogen in Charlottenburg, a residential and commercial building on Holzmarktstraße, and a commercial new building at Landsberger Allee in Friedrichshain are also in the works.
Each of these projects aims to contribute to Berlin's vibrant and ever-evolving urban landscape, offering businesses and residents a modern and inspiring environment to work and live in.
