Ongoing major roadworks en route to Lemgoer
The city of Detmold is set to undertake a significant infrastructure project, the renovation of Lemgoer Straße between Nordring and Feldstraße, starting from next week. This large-scale project, one of the largest in recent years in the city, aims to modernise and enhance the streetscape, making it more attractive, greener, and modern.
The renovation will be executed in two construction phases. The first phase will commence between the intersection of Nordring and the intersection area of Georgstraße/Sylbeckestraße and is expected to last approximately one and a half years. During this phase, future parking spaces in front of the Sparkassen branch will be arranged in the middle of the road during the construction.
The road construction is budgeted at 4.2 million euros. The funding for the renovation comes from the wastewater fee income and road construction budget. The sewer construction, which is a significant part of the project, will cost around 2.5 million euros, also financed from the wastewater fee income.
The measure serves not only technical renewal but also aims to separate wastewater streams with a new sewer system. This is an essential step towards improving the city's infrastructure and ensuring a sustainable future.
The street adaptation will include widening sidewalks, improving cycling infrastructure, and planting 50 new street trees. These changes will make the street more pedestrian and cyclist-friendly, promoting a greener and more sustainable city.
Access to properties along the route will generally be maintained during the renovation, but short-term closures may occur during ongoing work. Outbound traffic will be diverted to the right at the intersection of Sylbeckestraße and directed onto the Nordring via Siegfriedstraße during the first construction phase.
The second construction phase will convert the intersections of Georgstraße/Sylbeckestraße and Feldstraße into roundabouts. No street construction contributions will be levied from residents.
For any questions regarding the project, Torben Gocke can be contacted at 05231 977401. The city portal has released a press statement regarding the renovation, providing more detailed information.
The renovation project is a significant step towards modernising Detmold's infrastructure and creating a more sustainable, attractive, and modern city. Stay updated for more information as the project progresses.
