Opel Kadett Racing Conversion Seized at German Border
A Swiss-registered Opel Kadett 1200 S was intercepted on the A96 near Neuravensburg last Saturday. The car, intended for conversion into a racing vehicle, was stopped by Lindau Customs due to missing customs papers. The 54-year-old driver was fined and had to pay import duties before continuing his journey.
The car was found to have a bare chassis equipped with a roll bar, suggesting it was being prepared for racing in Switzerland. The driver, whose name has not been disclosed, was unable to present the necessary customs documents. Lindau Customs officers seized approximately 480 euros in duties and fines from the driver. After settling the fees, the driver was permitted to proceed with his journey.
The incident serves as a reminder for drivers to ensure they have the correct paperwork when transporting vehicles across borders. The car's intended conversion to a racing vehicle also highlights the importance of adhering to regulations in the motorsports industry.
