Paramount Appoints Josh Goldstine as New Chief in Global Marketing and Distribution Division

In a significant move for Paramount Pictures, industry veteran Josh Goldstine is set to join the studio as the new Global Head of Marketing and Distribution. Goldstine, who has a rich history of successful campaigns, is poised to bring his expertise to the table and help steer the studio's future projects.

Goldstine's career spans over two decades, with stints at Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., and Universal Pictures. His most recent role was as the head of global marketing at Warner Bros., where he was instrumental in the success of movies like Barbie, which grossed an impressive $1.44 billion worldwide.

Prior to his tenure at Warner Bros., Goldstine made a significant impact at Universal Pictures. During his time there (2011-2018), Universal experienced an unprecedented run at the box office, resulting in four of the five most profitable years in the company's history. In 2015, under Goldstine's leadership, Universal broke numerous records, including the then highest-grossing domestic, international, and worldwide box office of any single year in any film studio's history.

During his time at Universal, Goldstine oversaw the campaigns for several successful movies, including Jurassic World, the Despicable Me, Pitch Perfect and Fast & Furious franchises, Get Out, Split, Sing, Secret Life of Pets, Straight Outta Compton, Fifty Shades of Grey, and many more. The studio also had three films cross the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office in 2015, with Furious 7, Jurassic World, and Illumination's Minions leading the charge.

Goldstine's role at Paramount will encompass both marketing and distribution, a testament to his versatility and extensive experience in the industry. His appointment comes at a time when Paramount is under new leadership, with David Ellison at the helm. However, the new Paramount has not officially announced Goldstine's appointment yet.

Meanwhile, Marc Weinstock, who has led Global Marketing and Distribution at Paramount since 2019, is set to depart. Weinstock's most successful project during his tenure was Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed an impressive $1.49 billion.

In a surprising turn of events, Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein have been named as the new Motion Picture co-chairs at Paramount. It remains to be seen how their roles will intersect with Goldstine's as the studio navigates this new phase in its history.

Goldstine's tenure at Paramount is not without controversy. In 2018, he was placed on administrative leave due to allegations of "inappropriate conduct." However, he later sued the company and won $20M in arbitration.

Despite this, Goldstine's track record speaks for itself. His campaigns have consistently delivered results, and his ability to guide movies to the top of the box office charts is unparalleled. As he takes on his new role at Paramount, industry watchers will be eager to see how he will leverage his expertise to drive the studio's success.
