PlasticsEurope Germany has a new leader, with Bunte stepping into the role of Managing Director.
Christine Bunte, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in plastics, circular economy, and public affairs at national and European levels, has taken over as the Managing Director (Hauptgeschäftsführerin) of PlasticsEurope Deutschland, the German branch of PlasticsEurope.
Bunte's appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of PlasticsEurope Germany. Her primary goal is to significantly shape and drive the transformation of the plastics industry towards a climate-neutral circular economy.
In her new role, Bunte will focus on transforming the plastics industry in line with the principles of a climate-neutral circular economy. This transformation is outlined in PlasticsEurope's Transition Roadmap, a guide for the industry's transition towards a more sustainable future.
Bunte's commitment to environmental goals is evident, especially in her support for events like K 2025, the "World Expo for Plastics," where sustainability and innovation in plastics take centre stage. She also advocates for initiatives like the European Union’s Clean Industrial Deal, a crucial step towards driving climate-neutral industry practices, including in plastics production and recycling.
Alexander Kronimus, who had been temporarily leading PlasticsEurope Germany since May 2024, will continue in his role as deputy CEO. Bunte brings her expertise from her time at BASF, where she was responsible for the company's circular economy and environmental policy, and headed the Corporate Advocacy Team in Ludwigshafen.
Bunte's appointment as the leader of PlasticsEurope Germany, effective from January 1, 2025, is expected to have a significant impact on the plastics industry. Her vision for a climate-neutral circular economy promises to foster innovation, collaboration, and policy advocacy, paving the way for a more sustainable future for the plastics sector.
