Polar Tech Manufactures Critical Sub-Frame for USAF's Grey Wolf Helicopter
Polar Technology has been contracted by ISTEC to manufacture a critical component for the United States Air Force's (USAF) Grey Wolf Helicopter. The sub-frame, connecting ISTEC's weapons mount to the helicopter's airframe, is a precision-made part that ensures full traceability of components and processes.
The manufacturing process involved intricate precision bending, machining, and coded welding. Each completed frame was delivered with a quality pack, ensuring every component and process could be traced back. The sub-frame was manufactured at Polar Technology's expansive 180,000ft facility.
Daniel Chilcott, Polar Technology's business development director, expressed his delight in supporting the USAF MH-139A platform. ISTEC's managing director, Mick Coulson, also praised Polar Technology's support in the Grey Wolf weapon mount program. A sample of the sub-frame will be on display at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition from 9-12 September 2025, at stand S1-134.
Leonardo and Garmin are also involved in the development of the MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopter platform for the US Air Force. Polar Technology was chosen for its expertise in advanced, precision, and critical fabrications.
Polar Technology's sub-frame, manufactured with precision and care, will play a crucial role in the Grey Wolf Helicopter's weapon mount system. Its display at DSEI showcases the company's commitment to supporting the USAF and the defence industry.
