Post-Construction Hiatus: Edeka and Rossmann Set to Debut in 2026
In the picturesque town of Kisslegg, construction on the new Edeka and Rossmann markets in Erlenweg is underway once again, following a halt in 2024. The project, initially planned for completion in 2024, is now expected to open in the fall of 2026.
The initial construction halt occurred due to internal issues within the construction company Kutter from Memmingen. No official reasons were given for the stoppage, and the company is no longer involved in the project. The takeover was handled by the company Züblin, which completed the construction work on the Edeka and Rossmann markets in Kisslegg.
The municipality of Kisslegg had supported the project and had created a development plan, including noise protection for residents. However, once construction halted, the local authority had no further formal influence over the situation.
The KIZ group from Bad Soden-Salmunster near Fulda has taken over the work, with other companies' machinery now visible on the construction site. Edeka has confirmed that construction has resumed, and the opening is planned for the third quarter of 2026.
Mayor Dieter Krattenmacher has noticed the new contractor but knows no further details about the project. The municipality of Kisslegg regrets the initial construction halt but had no control over the situation. Ulrich Groll, the owner of the project, was not available for questions about the project.
The municipality had previously obtained building permits for an Edeka market and a Rossmann drugstore in 2023. The KIZ group has made no statements about the project, and neither have they provided reasons for the initial construction halt or the change in construction company.
Despite the delay, the community in Kisslegg looks forward to the opening of the new markets, providing residents with convenient shopping options and further enhancing the town's vibrant commercial scene.
