Price hike by Togg on T10X models following EV tax reform in Turkey
The price of the Togg T10X electric vehicle has seen a significant increase, following the recent changes to the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) in Turkey. Effective from July 24, 2025, the tax base for electric vehicles under 160 kW motor power increased from 1,450,000 TL to 1,650,000 TL, and SCT rates have risen sharply, with the highest bracket jumping from 50% up to 75%.
These changes have caused disruption in the market, with consumers complaining that dealers demanded extra payments even if contracts or full payments were made before the new law's implementation. However, the Ministry of Trade has confirmed that such demands are illegal and has issued warnings to dealerships, emphasizing that dealers must cover tax payments if buyers already paid the price before the new rate change.
In response to the ÖTV hike, the Ministry has launched strict crackdowns on manipulative pricing and unauthorized dealer practices. This has resulted in over ₺250 million in fines, indicating enforcement efforts to stabilize the market and prevent artificial price inflation of vehicles like the Togg T10X.
Despite the price increases, Togg continues to lead Turkey's EV market. As of the latest data available, Togg has sold a total of 66,777 units since its inception, maintaining its leadership in both electric and ICE SUV segments. In June alone, Togg sold 3,098 units, bringing the total number of units sold in 2022 so far to 17,101.
The starting price of the Togg T10X has been increased to ₺1,862,000 due to the new Special Consumption Tax (OTV) regulations in Turkey. The top model of the Togg T10X now costs ₺2,363,000 after a price hike of ₺483,000. The V2 Long Range model of Togg T10X experienced the biggest price increase at 25.7%. The V1 Long Range and V1 Standard trims of Togg T10X also saw price increases.
The revised OTV brackets for electric vehicles in Turkey were updated in late July, leading to a roughly 25% price hike across many electric models in the country, including Togg's. This adjustment in OTV brackets has impacted the pricing of various electric models, as vehicles above 160 kW face even steeper tax rates, reaching up to 75%. Vehicles with a pre-tax price above ₺1,650,000 now face a 55% tax rate, an increase from 10%.
In conclusion, the higher SCT base value and steepened tax rates for electric vehicles have resulted in a price increase for the Togg T10X. Consumers have reported dealers illegally charging extra ÖTV beyond the new regulation date, prompting government warnings. The Ministry is actively policing the automotive market to prevent unfair pricing, targeting violators with heavy fines. Buyers of the Togg T10X now face higher purchase costs directly due to the 2025 ÖTV regulation amendments.
