Shell Germany Introduces Dynamic Pricing Model for Electric Vehicle Charging
Shell Germany is set to lower prices at all its Recharge fast-charging stations across the country, as part of an ongoing pilot project for its dynamic pricing model. The promotion will run from August 1st, 10:00 AM to August 3rd, 11:59 PM.
The dynamic pricing model, which has been implemented at approximately 1,700 fast-charging points in Germany since July 2025, encourages electric vehicle (EV) drivers to adopt flexible charging habits and explore the benefits of the Shell Recharge app. The promotion aims to influence charging behavior and help stabilize the power grid.
During the promotion, EV drivers with an active "Shell Recharge e-Deal" will pay only 0.29 €/kWh, a price that is approximately 20 cents below the current average price. The price per kWh during the promotion will be 0.39 €.
It's important to note that the dynamic pricing model does not apply to commercial customers, Shell petrol stations, or conventional charging points. The promotion is available to all private customers with a Shell Recharge app or charge card.
While the current status and impact of Shell Germany’s dynamic pricing model at Shell Recharge since its implementation in July 2025 are not publicly available, the model is designed to motivate EV drivers to use Shell Recharge ultra-fast charging points.
For more information about the dynamic pricing model and its potential influence on charging behavior, further research may be necessary. However, industry trends up to early 2025 suggest that such models are becoming increasingly common in the EV charging sector, as they offer a more efficient way to manage the power grid and encourage sustainable practices among EV drivers.
- The dynamic pricing model, implemented at Shell Germany's Recharge fast-charging points for electric vehicles, is geared towards influencing charging behavior and boosting energy efficiency.
- The finance sector has seen an increase in dynamic pricing models like Shell's in the EV charging industry, which aim to manage power grids and foster sustainable practices.
- As Shell Germany's dynamic pricing model encourages charging during off-peak hours, it aligns with the lifestyle trend of driving electric cars and supports the growth of the electric-vehicle industry.
