Prime Minister Narendra Modi Boosts Connectivity in Bengaluru with Vande Bharat Express and Metro Inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a visit to Bengaluru, Karnataka on August 10, 2025, where he flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru's KSR Railway Station. The trains are set to serve the routes KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Amritsar, and Nagpur (Ajni)-Pune.

The Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express will start regular service on August 11, connecting Karnataka cities Bengaluru and Belagavi, promoting regional connectivity within the state. The Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express will link Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, enhancing travel to the popular pilgrimage destination of Vaishno Devi. Lastly, the Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune Vande Bharat Express will connect two major cities in Maharashtra for faster travel.

These semi-high-speed trains aim to significantly reduce travel time and provide a world-class travel experience, further boosting connectivity across multiple states. The event also coincided with the inauguration of the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro and other urban infrastructure projects.

The Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro, built under Phase-2 at a cost of around Rs 7,160 crore, connects RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, spanning 19 km and featuring 16 stations across residential, business, and industrial areas. PM Modi inaugurated this line, marking the completion of the Phase-2 project.

In addition to the Vande Bharat Express and Metro inaugurations, PM Modi is expected to launch several transport projects in Bengaluru. The foundation stone for the third phase of Bengaluru Metro, worth Rs 15,610 crore, will be laid by PM Modi, adding 44 km of elevated tracks and 31 stations to the existing network.

Upon his arrival in Bengaluru, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, B.S. Yediyurappa, and other dignitaries. The PM is expected to speak about the government's plans to build world-class transport systems and make life easier for the people of Bengaluru during his public address, which is scheduled to end around 1 pm.

During his visit, PM Modi also took a metro ride from RV Road to Electronic City, a key IT hub, showcasing the convenience and efficiency of the newly inaugurated Yellow Line. The Vande Bharat Express trains, along with the Bangalore Metro, are set to revolutionise travel in Bengaluru, strengthening public transport and easing traffic in the city.
