Puppy Found in Tanker at A8 Leipheim: Owner Fined for EU Animal Regulation Violation
Hauptzollamt Augsburg officers made an unusual discovery at the A8 Leipheim exit. They found an eight-week-old puppy sitting on a passenger's lap in a Romanian-registered small tanker. The vehicle was en route from Romania to France.
The puppy, estimated to be around eight weeks old by a veterinarian, was separated from its mother too early. The owner, Daniel O., could not provide necessary customs or veterinary documents. Notably, the puppy lacked a chip or a rabies vaccination due to its young age, and no pet passport was presented.
An administrative offense procedure was initiated against Daniel O. for violating the EU animal disease protection regulation. The puppy was subsequently ordered into quarantine at an animal shelter.
The puppy's early separation from its mother and lack of necessary vaccinations and documents raised concerns. Authorities are now ensuring the puppy's well-being and addressing the regulatory breach.
