Racing ahead in Renewable Energy Dominance: Changzhou, Jiangsu Pushes for Worldwide Renewable Energy Ascendancy
In the heart of Jiangsu, China, the 11th round of the Jiangsu City Football League match between Changzhou and Suqian took centre stage during the opening ceremony of the International New Energy Exhibition 2025 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center.
Despite a 2-1 loss for Changzhou, the football match created an energetic atmosphere that resonated beyond the final score. The vibrant crowd of over 40,000 fans filled the stadium, contributing to an exciting and unforgettable experience.
The exhibition, themed "New Energy, New Power, New Changzhou," signified the city's commitment to sustainable growth and strengthening its global competitiveness in the renewable energy sector. Zhou Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Changzhou, highlighted the "dual-IP partnership" between the renewable energy industry and the Jiangsu City Football League, marking a new chapter of industrial growth and community engagement in the city.
This partnership is part of Changzhou's comprehensive renewable energy industry chain, which encompasses five segments: generation, storage, transmission, utilization, and grid. Last year, the renewable energy sector in Changzhou had an output of over 850 billion yuan, making it a significant part of the city's economy.
During the opening ceremony, 33 significant agreements were finalized, totalling more than 33.7 billion yuan in investment. These agreements marked a significant step forward in Changzhou's ambition to break the 1 trillion yuan mark in output for the renewable energy sector this year.
Wang Jianfeng, Secretary of the Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), emphasized Changzhou's goals for the 15th Five-Year Plan period. The city aims to maintain its leading edge in manufacturing, accelerate progress in applied technologies, and adopt a forward-looking approach to emerging industries.
In his speech, Zhou Wei extended an invitation to entrepreneurs, scientists, investors, and innovators from around the world, encouraging them to become partners and contributors to Changzhou's vision for the future. The International New Energy Exhibition 2025, which opened on September 13, provided an ideal platform for such collaborations.
The exhibition, which featured a "dual-IP" approach, also saw the signing of 33 significant contracts on-site, further solidifying Changzhou's position as a hub for renewable energy innovation. As the city continues to grow and evolve, its commitment to sustainable energy and community engagement remains at the forefront.
