Increasing Job Vacancies and Job Seekers in Belarus

Job vacancies in Belarus have reached a new high, with over 209,000 positions available nationwide, as reported by the "Mirror." This marks a rise from the previous figure of nearly 202,000 job offers, recorded on April 26.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection disclosed that these vacancies primarily cater to regular workers, accounting for 67.8% of the total job openings.

Simultaneously, the number of job seekers registered with employment centers has also increased significantly. As of May 1, the figure stood at 3,600, an uptick of 1,000 since the beginning of the year.

Historical data from Belstat indicates that the unemployment rate stood at 3%, representing around 150,400 people in the last quarter of the previous year.

Recent trends suggest a relatively strong labor market in Belarus, with a low unemployment rate of approximately 3.4% in 2024 compared to European averages. However, dynamics in the employment and unemployment rates suggest underlying structural factors at play.
