Recognizing Achievements in Insurance Journalism: WTW Unveils Honor roll for Media Awards in Insurance Sector

The WTW Media Awards, a global event that honours outstanding journalism in business, finance, and insurance sectors, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Over the past two decades, the awards have evolved and expanded, reflecting changes in media technology and journalistic practices.

The awards ceremony, held at London's Hispania restaurant, was judged by four separate panels of leading industry experts and journalists. This year, the event saw eleven categories, including Digital and Campaigning Journalists of the Year.

Among the winners, Mia Wallace from Insurance Business took home two awards - the Insurance & Risk Profile Interviewer of the Year and the Insurance & Risk Technology Journalist of the Year. Another notable winner was Dan Cave, a freelance journalist, who was named the Employee Experience & Wellbeing Journalist of the Year.

Laurence Fletcher from the Financial Times was awarded the Institutional Investment Journalist of the Year, while Edmund Tirbutt, another freelance journalist, won the Insurance & Risk Features Journalist of the Year. Claer Barrett from the Financial Times was named the Digital Influencer of the Year.

In the pensions category, Calum Mason from The i paper won the Defined Contribution Pensions Journalist of the Year, with Laura Blows from Pensions Age receiving a Highly Commended mention in the Defined Benefit Pensions Journalist of the Year category. Highly Commended mentions were also given to Annie Hayes from HR Grapevine in the Pay, Reward & Employee Benefits Journalist of the Year category and to Lucy Buchholz from UNLEASH in the Employee Experience & Wellbeing Journalist of the Year category.

Moira O'Neill, a freelance journalist, was awarded the Retail or Wealth Investment Journalist of the Year. Stephanie Hawthorne, a freelance journalist, was named the Campaigning Journalist of the Year.

In addition to these awards, Willis Towers Watson (WTW) launched an Asia Pacific Climate Risk Centre in Singapore and released a report highlighting cyber and data privacy as the number one risk in the Media and Telecoms sector.

Despite the wealth of information available about WTW's corporate events, reports, and services, a detailed, documented history and analysis of the WTW Media Awards' evolution and impact on business journalism could not be found in the current search results. For a comprehensive understanding of the awards' 20-year journey, specific sources or official communications from WTW or the awards' organizers would be necessary.
