Redesigned 2026 Hyundai Palisade Brings Elevated Luxury to the Fore
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade, a redesigned three-row SUV, is set to hit Hyundai's U.S. stores in September 2022. Boasting a new 3.5-liter V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, this midsize SUV offers front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive options, starting at $40,430 for the SE model and up to around $60,000 for the top-tier Calligraphy trim.
Key features of the 2026 Palisade include a full suite of standard driver aids like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, front and rear parking sensors, and a new safe-exit warning system with visual indicators on rear doors. The interior boasts an in-car intercom, configurable ambient lighting, a dual-pane sunroof, head-up display, surround-view monitor, and multiple USB-C ports. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
The 2026 model introduces improved sound insulation with acoustic glass to reduce road noise and enhance the luxury feel, especially in the Limited and Calligraphy trims. The suspension tuning prioritizes comfort, with some noted jitteriness on larger wheels. The steering and brake feedback are described as muted and less communicative than the previous generation, potentially appealing to drivers preferring a relaxed driving experience.
Fuel economy is rated at approximately 19 MPG city and 25-26 MPG highway for the non-hybrid V6 front-wheel-drive variant, slightly down from the previous year. A more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged hybrid model producing 329 horsepower is planned for later release but is not available at launch.
The new Palisade is equipped with a 3.5L V-6 engine generating 287 hp. Acceleration is slightly less urgent, with 0-60 mph estimated at 6.6 seconds. The SUV's impressive composure during test drives is evident with precise steering, tight body control, and a quiet cabin.
The second-generation Palisade is assembled at Hyundai's Ulsan, South Korea, plant, similar to the first-generation model. The new Palisade will be available in seven trims: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy, Calligraphy Night, and Black Ink editions. All-wheel drive adds $2,000 to the price, where not standard, and destination charges are $1,395.
Praised for delivering premium comfort and technology at a mainstream price, the 2026 Hyundai Palisade is poised to enhance comfort, technology, and safety while providing a competitive value in the midsize SUV segment.
