In an exciting development, Deutsche Bank has partnered with Silverflow to streamline payment operations for Bolt, a leading European mobility platform. This strategic collaboration aims to modernize card processing and enable new acquiring models across Europe and the UK.

The partnership, announced in June, centres on deploying a cloud-native card acquiring platform across Europe, which became operational in April 2025. Deutsche Bank acts as the card acquirer for Bolt, providing the necessary regulatory framework to process card payments via Visa and Mastercard schemes while leveraging Silverflow's modern cloud-based payment infrastructure.

Bolt can now route payments through Deutsche Bank’s membership in card schemes with Silverflow handling the payment processing technology. Deutsche Bank settles funds received from Visa and Mastercard and manages payouts to Bolt, offering a scalable, regulatory-compliant, and streamlined payment system. This integration enhances operational efficiency and improves the payment experience for customers across the EU and UK.

The partnership has several significant impacts on Europe's mobility platforms like Bolt:

  1. Modernized and scalable payments infrastructure: The cloud-based system supports high transaction volumes with improved speed, flexibility, and reliability compared to legacy solutions.
  2. Enhanced regulatory compliance: Deutsche Bank's role provides the necessary oversight and risk management, ensuring secure, compliant cross-border payment processing.
  3. Improved operational efficiency: Automation of processes such as chargebacks and real-time data reconciliation reduces manual overhead and customer disputes, benefitting platform operators.
  4. Support for growth ambitions in European markets: Bolt benefits from a seamless payment experience aligned with its expansion across Europe and the UK.

This collaboration is another milestone in Deutsche Bank's strategy to deliver modern, scalable, and regulatory-resilient payment solutions for platform businesses across Europe. It reflects a wider trend towards cloud-based payment systems in Europe that balance regulatory compliance with operational efficiency for digital platforms.

Jüri Laur, Director of Product, Commerce at Bolt, commented on the collaboration, stating, "We are excited to partner with Deutsche Bank and Silverflow to modernize our payment operations and provide our customers with a smoother payment experience. This collaboration supports our growth ambitions in European markets."
