Relayed thoughts of Evgeny Grigoryev on relocating Yakutsk's bus terminal

Yakutsk, the largest city in Siberia, is set to witness a significant transformation in its public transport system. The city's bus system is set to expand and improve with the proposed relocation of the Yakutsk bus station and the development of two transport hubs.

The new route network for the Yakutsk bus system consists of 35 routes: 5 main, 15 urban, 10 suburban, and 5 feeder routes to remote areas. These changes aim to improve connectivity, develop integrated transport hubs, and redesign the route network for optimal coverage, frequency, and reduced congestion.

The urban routes are planned for passenger transportation in inter-block areas, complementing the network of main routes. Feeder routes, on the other hand, will bring passengers to the main transport hubs, particularly the Medical Center. The creation of the southern transport hub, where more than 10 routes are expected to converge, aims to make bus travel to the suburbs cheaper and improve the overall route network. The northern transport hub, near the airport, is still intended for most passengers to disembark.

The proposed plan also aims to reduce congestion in the city center by developing these transport hubs. In the city center, high-capacity main routes will be provided for the largest transport flows without transfers. The Yakutsk bus station is considering relocation, as discussed by the city head during a live broadcast on August 18.

Given Yakutsk's unique logistical challenges with infrastructure stability and climate, the relocation could involve consideration of these factors to enhance reliability and passenger comfort. However, for confirmed and detailed information, official announcements from Yakutsk municipality or local transport authorities would be the authoritative source.

This overhaul of the Yakutsk bus system is expected to provide a more efficient, reliable, and comfortable public transport system for the city's residents and visitors. As more details about the project emerge, we will keep you updated.
