Renault Group to Discuss Decarbonization and Circular Economy Strategies at ChangeNow 2023 Event
The Renault Group is set to attend the ChangeNOW Summit, a three-day event showcasing innovative solutions for the planet and addressing social and environmental challenges. The event, taking place at the Grand Palais Éphémère from May 25 to May 27, 2023, will see Renault Group presenting its strategy for a low-carbon, responsible, and safe future of mobility.
On Thursday, May 25, Cléa Martinet, Director of Sustainable Development at Renault Group, will participate in the Future Generations Tribunal titled "Can we still love the car?" This thought-provoking event aims to explore the question of whether it is still possible to love cars in the context of the energy transition, fight against pollution and climate change, resource scarcity, and the French aspiration for new lifestyles combining proximity, social justice, and ecology.
Renault Group's decarbonization policy extends to the entire vehicle life cycle, including design, manufacturing, use, and recycling. Over the years, the Group has made significant strides in reducing its carbon footprint. Between 2010 and 2022, it managed to reduce its global carbon footprint by 25%.
The Group's commitment to sustainability is evident in its investments in recycling chains. Since 2008, it has invested in companies like Indra, Gaia, and Boone Comenor. In 2022, Renault Group founded a new company named Indra, dedicated to the use of recycled materials in vehicles, aiming to lead the circular and environmentally friendly automotive economy in Europe.
The Group has also created a dedicated entity, The Future Is NEUTRAL, to rapidly increase the rate of recycled materials in vehicles. The Refactory project in Flins demonstrates the Group's ability to positively transform the automotive industry in the circular economy.
In addition to the Future Generations Tribunal, a roundtable on the theme "Rethinking Mobility and Transport" will be held on Thursday, May 25, from 4:15 PM to 5:30 PM, featuring David Holderbach, CEO of HYVIA.
Renault Group's vision for the future of mobility is clear: a future that is low-carbon, responsible, and safe, driven by environmentally and socially just innovation. The Group's ambitious goal is to achieve carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and worldwide by 2050.
The Future Generations Tribunal will involve academic experts and representatives from Renault Group, including Cléa Martinet, Director of Sustainable Development, and a jury of 7 personalities from the institutional, scientific, associative, and automotive worlds.
