Rescue on A8: Six Puppies Seized in Cruel Transport Conditions
Customs officers on the A8 motorway at Leipheim discovered six young puppy dogs in cruel transport conditions. The puppies, aged eight to sixteen weeks, were found in two cat transport boxes on a Sprinter with Moldovan plates. The driver could not provide necessary documents or proof of vaccinations.
The puppies, identified as Maltese Miniature Pinschers, were seized by the veterinary office. They were found to be severely infested with ticks and lacked proper vaccinations. The boxes they were in were too small, violating animal health regulations. The driver's inability to produce any customs or veterinary docs further compounded the issue. The puppies were then taken to the animal shelter in Günzburg for care and eventual rehoming.
The puppies' journey from Moldova to Belgium was halted due to severe animal welfare violations. Proceedings for administrative offenses have been initiated. The puppies are now in safe hands and will be rehomed after proper care and treatment.
