Hey there, train enthusiasts! Listen up, 'cause we've got some big changes coming up for the German Railway on the left bank of the Rhine. After wrapping up construction works north of Koblenz from May 2nd to 19th, we're diving into the next phase between Koblenz and Mainz-Mombach starting May 20th!

In this next phase, we'll be renewing tracks and switches, and to top it off, we're giving a refresh to a bridge, along with some rockfall protection works and ordnance clearance. Plus, we'll be constructing some noise protection walls.

But don't worry, we're gonna do our best to minimize the impact on train traffic during these works. We're smart about scheduling: considerin' other construction works around Koblenz and Mainz in the planning, and tryin' to work "under rolling stock" and during the night hours whenever possible.

Still, certain track sections may need partial or complete closure during track works or when we need special equipment. No worries, though! We'll make every effort to provide passengers with the best service on the rails or step in with alternative travel arrangements during the construction phase.

As for regional and long-distance traffic, between Koblenz Central Station and Bingen Central Station, trains on line RE 2 may only run partially depending on the construction phase, and replacement buses will step in. The Mittelrheinbahn will also operate with altered timetables during the day, with night-time rail replacement services.

In long-distance traffic, trains between Cologne and Mainz will still run at least every two hours, but with detours. During the construction phase, Bingen Central Station won't be serviced by long-distance trains. Don't worry, though! Alternative connections via Frankfurt Airport are available, and travel times between Cologne or Koblenz and Mainz may be extended by up to 30 minutes. Oh, and there might be some delays and cancellations, so keep that in mind!

Now, let's talk about the challenges the German rail network faces, like capacity bottlenecks and aging infrastructure. Deutsche Bahn is workin' hard to address these issues, aimin' to improve overall network capacity and efficiency through comprehensive network renovations.

For specific details about construction measures and their impact on traffic between Koblenz and Mainz-Mombach, it's best to check Deutsche Bahn's official announcements or contact local railway authorities for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Happy travels, and stay tuned for more updates!

  1. Under Deutsche Bahn's community policy, vocational training programs will be implemented for railway workers to ensure efficient rail modernization works, such as the one ongoing from Koblenz to Mainz, encompassing vocational training in various aspects, including track and bridge maintenance, ordnance clearance, and noise protection wall construction.
  2. To finance these expansive infrastructure renovation projects, Deutsche Bahn collaborates with the industry and financial institutions to secure funding, reducing the impact on fare prices while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the railways, establishing improved transportation connectivity throughout Germany, from Berlin to Mainz on the Rhine-Side Rails.
