Ride Experience with the Unique, One-of-a-Kind Ford Focus RS Tournament
The Ford Focus RS Wagon MK3, originally built by Ford, has undergone a remarkable transformation under the hands of German enthusiast Sven Dräbert. This compact class car, a blend of compact sports car and station wagon, has been meticulously modified over the course of six years, culminating in a road test during the Covid pandemic, a time that also saw the founding of a company and the purchase of a new house.
Dräbert's goal was to make the car look like nothing had changed, hiding the amount of work, love, and money that went into this project. The car's external appearance remains largely unaltered, save for the addition of a butterfly exhaust system by Stoffler, making it quieter than the original.
Under the hood, the Focus RS Wagon MK3 houses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with an update package aiming to deliver up to 600 PS (441 kW) soon. The car's height has been lowered by 20 to 30 mm towards the asphalt, thanks to a thread system from the Australian company Pedders.
The car's all-wheel drive system ensures a smooth ride, and its feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. However, one apparent negative comment came from an American who questioned how Dräbert could spend so much money on the build without seeing any of it.
Despite this, the Focus RS Wagon MK3 is a testament to Dräbert's passion and dedication. It's a street-legal vehicle, practical enough to be driven daily, yet powerful enough to turn heads on public roads. Its compact size makes it a rare sight, adding to its allure.
In a unique twist, Dräbert is working on letting Ken Block's daughter, Lia, drive the car. The car will be on display at the JP Kraemer's Pace Museum from mid-August to mid-September 2025, giving fans a chance to see this remarkable vehicle up close.
As the car enters its break-in phase, it continues to impress, with its upgraded shift knob in carbon optic and legal conversion of H7 and H4 bulbs to LED technology further enhancing its appeal. The Focus RS Wagon MK3 is more than just a car; it's a labour of love, a testament to the power of passion and the art of automotive modification.
