RMV Announces Major Ticket Price Hikes and Changes from Jan 2026

The Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) has announced significant changes to its ticket prices and offerings, effective January 1, 2026. The price hike, averaging 4.75%, is attributed to increased operational costs, including wages, energy, and track usage. Some ticket types will be discontinued, and the Germany ticket will become more expensive.

The RMV has cited higher costs for bus and train operations as the primary reason for the price increase. Around 60% of these costs are already covered by public subsidies. The government commission responsible for setting these prices, the RMV pricing commission, has approved the changes.

Several ticket types will be removed from the offer. These include the 9 a.m. monthly and annual cards, as well as the 65+ monthly cards. Some tickets that have become obsolete due to the Germany ticket and are less frequently purchased will also be discontinued. The versions of the 'Germany-Ticket Job' and 'RMV-JobTicket Premium' that are only valid between work and home will also be phased out.

The Germany ticket, currently priced at 58 euros per month, will increase to 63 euros from the turn of the year. The BahnCard discount for single journeys on regional rail services from price stage 5 will also be discontinued.

From January 1, 2026, RMV passengers can expect to pay more for their bus and train journeys. The average price increase of 4.75% is a result of higher operational costs, and several ticket types will no longer be available. The Germany ticket will also become more expensive, with the monthly price increasing to 63 euros.
