Samsung & OpenAI Team Up to Boost South Korea's AI Capabilities
Samsung has announced a significant partnership with OpenAI, aiming to bolster South Korea's AI capabilities and strengthen its global presence. The collaboration involves several Samsung subsidiaries and covers a wide range of AI-related initiatives.
Samsung Electronics will provide OpenAI with crucial semiconductor solutions, including support for the ambitious 'Stargate' project. This involves supplying energy-efficient DRAM chips, chip packaging, and heterogeneous integration solutions to optimize AI processes.
In a separate venture, Samsung C&T and Samsung Heavy Industries will join forces with OpenAI to explore concepts for innovative floating data centers. Meanwhile, Samsung SDS will play a key role in planning and operating data centers for OpenAI, and will also facilitate the distribution of OpenAI services in South Korea.
The tech giant is also evaluating the enterprise-wide use of ChatGPT to digitize internal processes and enhance efficiency. This move underscores Samsung's commitment to embracing cutting-edge AI technologies to improve its operations.
