SAP Abolishes Initiatives Focused on Gender Equality in Response to Trump's Administration - SAP Stops Gender Diversity Initiatives in Response to Trump Administration's Policies

Tech giant SAP is shaking up its Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) approach following pressure from none other than the Trump administration. appeared in a report by the "Handelsblatt," the company expressed a need to adapt to "external changes," such as current legal developments.

SAP's strategic shift involves pulling back on commitments to gender diversity, particularly in the U.S. The company's quota for female leadership positions will no longer be applied stateside. Furthermore, the independence of the Diversity & Inclusion Office will be surrendered, merging with the Corporate Social Responsibility department.

In response to a request for comment, SAP confirmed the "Handelsblatt" report, revealing that their indicator of gender diversity in compensation would be swapped for a general index based on employee surveys.

The Trump administration has waged a months-long campaign against companies and organizations with U.S. ties, urging them to abandon diversity initiatives or activities mismatching Trump's ideals. In line with these policies, T-Mobile, a U.S. subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has declared an end to such programs. On his inaugural day, Trump signed an executive order restricting U.S. federal agencies from using diversity, equality, and inclusion programs.

It's no secret that SAP is playing by the Trump administration's rules, as the tech firm is a globally operating company with a significant presence in the USA. As companies like T-Mobile tread the same path, it seems that the Trump administration's stance on diversity-based initiatives may be incentivizing firms to reconsider their commitment to inclusivity.
