Security Employee Sentenced for Role in Wage Splitting Scheme
The Regensburg Public Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against an employee of a southern Bavaria security company. The employee is accused of aiding and abetting the withholding and misappropriation of wages through a systematic wage splitting scheme.
The scheme, which ran from 2016 to 2021, aimed to keep wages below the 450-euro limit to avoid social security contributions. In one instance, an employee's overtime pay was distributed among 16 colleagues over two years, with one month seeing it paid to four different people.
The defendant pleaded guilty at the start of the trial. The Regensburg Local Court subsequently sentenced them to a fine of 2,400 euros. The Lead Government Director Matschke, head of the Regensburg Customs Office, condemned the practice, stating it undermines the social security system and fair competition.
The Public Prosecutor's Office has filed an official indictment against the accused. The court's sentencing sends a clear message that such practices will not be tolerated. The security company's actions have been exposed, and the employee has faced consequences for their role in the wage splitting scheme.
