In a significant move towards digitalization, employers in the Republic of Komi can now submit claims for reimbursement of labor protection expenses electronically via the Electronic Public Services (EPGU) platform. This change, effective from the beginning of the year, aims to streamline the process and make it more convenient for businesses.

The deadline for submitting these claims and accompanying documents has been advanced to November 15, a month earlier than last year. The documents must confirm the expenses, adhering to the Rules for Financial Support of Preventive Measures.

Once submitted, the claims will undergo verification and approval by the Social Fund Department staff. They will review the documents to ensure compliance with labor protection regulations. Notifications regarding the claim status, requests for additional information, or final approval will be sent electronically.

In some cases, integration with other government systems such as employee registration or financial control systems may facilitate faster processing and verification. For precise and current procedural details specific to the Republic of Komi’s Social Fund Department, you would typically need to consult the official Social Fund of the Russian Federation website or contact the Komi regional office directly.

Employers must first take measures to reduce industrial injuries and occupational diseases at their own expense before applying for compensation from the Social Fund Department. The Department compensates employers up to 20% of the total amount of insurance contributions paid in the preceding calendar year.

The compensation amount can be increased to 30% if the employer includes sanatorium-resort treatment for workers of pre-retirement and retirement age in their plan. This incentivizes employers to prioritize the health and well-being of their older workers.

If corrections are needed in the documents, the employer has five working days to make the necessary adjustments. It is now possible to submit a claim for reimbursement not only after completing all preventive measures, but also for each separate event performed.

The Social Fund Department is financing 17 labor protection events in the Republic of Komi, with funding for preventive measures against industrial injuries and occupational diseases increasing to 250.5 million rubles in 2025.

Popular measures among Komi employers include purchasing individual protective equipment, conducting periodic medical examinations, special assessment of labor conditions, training in labor protection, and sanatorium-resort treatment for workers.
