Significant Nickel Mineralization Discovered at Tamarack by Talon Metals, with a Third Intercept Reported Just 26 Meters from Previous Discovery, Indicating Lateral Continuity.
Talon Metals' Directional Drilling Program at Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project Advances
Talon Metals Corp., a TSX-listed base metals company, has initiated a directional drilling program at its high-grade Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in central Minnesota. The program focuses on the Vault Zone, a newly identified discovery area beneath the existing Tamarack deposit.
The program involves two drill pads and rigs, conducting wedge drilling from two main drill holes at depths around 550 to 575 meters. The objective is to test and extend BHEM (Borehole Electromagnetic) anomalies associated with massive nickel mineralization.
The program's objectives are threefold:
- To expand the newly discovered Vault Zone mineralization laterally and at depth.
- To test five planned wedge holes based on BHEM geophysical anomalies, with the potential for additional holes if results warrant.
- To utilize a rapid, 24-hour turnaround in geophysical data evaluation to guide drilling progress efficiently and effectively.
The initial results from the directional drilling program are promising. Talon Metals has reported a third intercept of massive and mixed massive nickel mineralization drilled 26 meters from the initial discovery hole. This strongly supports the lateral continuity of high-grade nickel mineralization within the Vault Zone.
The laboratory used for analysis is ALS Minerals, which is independent of the Company. These exploration targets are in close proximity to Lundin Mining's Eagle Mine and encompass approximately 33,000 acres of mineral rights out of Talon's over 400,000 acre mineral package in Michigan.
Talon has an earn-in right to acquire up to 60% of the Tamarack Nickel Project and currently owns 51%. The parties are working on the earn-in and related agreements pursuant to which Lundin Mining may acquire up to a 70% ownership interest in the Boulderdash and Roland exploration targets. The exclusivity period for the earn-in agreement has been extended until August 31, 2025.
The US Department of Energy has selected Talon's Battery Mineral Processing Facility in Mercer County for a US$114.8 million funding grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Additionally, the US Department of Defense awarded Talon a grant of US$20.6 million to support and accelerate Talon's exploration efforts in both Minnesota and Michigan.
The Tamarack Nickel Project comprises a large land position with additional high-grade intercepts outside the current resource area. Talon currently has two drill rigs operating at Boulderdash and is mobilizing a third drill rig to begin drilling in the next week.
This ongoing program reflects a strategic step to thoroughly delineate and expand the significant nickel-copper-cobalt mineralization below Tamarack, underpinning Talon's leadership in high-grade nickel supply.
- Talon Metals is employing multiple drill rigs in the directional drilling program at the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project to advance its goals in the finance and industry sectors, particularly focusing on testing and extending nickel mineralization.
- The successful results from this program could potentially augment Talon Metals' position as a leading supplier of high-grade nickel, offering significant opportunities in the finance and industry sectors.
