Skechers Debuts First American Stores Focused on Athletic Footwear Performance
In a strategic move to tap into the vibrant, fitness-focused community of Miami, Skechers has opened its first U.S. performance store. Located at Dolphin Mall, the store spans over 26,000 square feet, making it the brand's largest factory mall store to date.
The grand opening was attended by NBA star Julius Randle and Terance Mann, who became Skechers' first professional basketball players to become brand ambassadors in 2023. The store showcases the brand's one-of-a-kind technologies, as Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, stated.
The store carries a complete range of Skechers performance footwear, apparel, and accessories for various sports like basketball, running, soccer, golf, pickleball, and the outdoors. It also features experiential zones focused on running, pickleball, golf, basketball, and soccer.
Skechers launched the latest version of its performance soccer shoes through a tie-in with Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane in July. The store also stocks the SKX Full-Court Press basketball shoe for women, which was introduced earlier this summer.
The store has product specialists to assist customers and includes dedicated areas with state-of-the-art digital LED screens and selfie areas localized with Miami-centric graphics.
The opening of the Miami store comes after Skechers announced its plan to be acquired by 3G Capital and go private for $9.4 billion in May. The deal is expected to close on Friday.
In the second quarter, Skechers reported impressive earnings, with sales of $2.4 billion, a 13.1% increase year over year. DTC sales were up 11% to $1.1 billion, while wholesale earnings grew 15% to $1.3 billion.
