Sleep Deprivation in Moltkestraße: Employees Remain Awake Due to Loud Noises
Unsettling Ruckus in Moltkestrasse:
The blissful extended Pentecost weekend was anything but for some residents of Moltkestrasse. Instead of relaxation, they endured a relentless ruckus from the railway tracks, shattering their peaceful slumber on June 7th.
Loud Work Continuing beyond the Announced Hours
The Karlsruhe Transport Authority (KVV) declared that all "noisy grinding work" would finish by 10 pm. However, our reader reported that the annoying noise persisted beyond that point, even at 12:36 am, when they were still wide awake in bed.
Confusion with Resident Information and Work Schedules
On June 11th, KVV addressed the complaint from our reader. In their response, they revealed that a miscommunication within their team led to the incorrect resident information. The erroneous communication inferred less noisy work after 10 pm.
KVV informed us that the tight construction schedule necessitated night work, which they had shared with the appropriate authorities in advance.
Possibility of Noise until 2 am
When contacted, KVV further explained that welding work on tracks can only be performed at night, as the rails should not exceed 28 degrees Celsius—a temperature often surpassed during the day in summer. Additionally, the track must remain still during welding work, which precludes other construction activities taking place concurrently.
"The actual welding work is quiet, but removing the material after welding may cause a brief increase in noise," said KVV. This work normally kicks off around 7 pm and can last approximately 6 to 7 hours, potentially leading to noise till around 2 am.
KVV did not acknowledge any miscommunication errors between their organization and the residents in their email response.
Two More Loud Nights Ahead
Currently, there are two more noisy nights planned for Moltkestrasse as KVV aims to complete the construction work by June 23rd. However, they did not specify when residents should prepare for their earplugs. "Discussions are ongoing with the involved construction companies," reported KVV.
Since the initial search results do not offer precise details on the night work schedules or the expected noise disturbance times, residents are encouraged to keep a close watch on official announcements from KVV or the city’s public works department for the most accurate information.
[1] Typically, night work schedules for urban area track constructions serve to minimize disruption to daytime traffic and public transportation, but can cause elevated noise levels that may affect residents' sleep, particularly during late-night to early-morning hours.
[2] Detailed night work schedules and specific noise disturbance times may be published separately or at a later date. Consulting local news outlets, the KVV website, or city announcements is advised to stay informed about the noisy night work periods and construction progress.
The relentless noise from the night work on railway tracks in Moltkestrasse, conducted by the Karlsruhe Transport Authority (KVV), is not limited to the announced hours, extending even at 12:36 am, as reported by our reader. Residents should prepare for two more noisy nights ahead, as the work is scheduled to complete by June 23rd, and discussions with the construction companies are ongoing to establish the exact noise disturbance times.
