Solar Energy Infrastructure Recipient: DEWA's Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park Wins International Award Globally
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been honoured with the Energy Infrastructure Award at the 2024 S&P Global Platts Energy Awards. The accolade recognises DEWA's groundbreaking work on the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world's largest single-site solar park, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The award-winning project currently boasts a production capacity of 3,860 megawatts (MW), achieved through advanced photovoltaic solar panels and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technologies. By 2030, DEWA plans to expand the park's capacity to a staggering 7,260 MW, aligning with Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and its ambitious goal to produce 100% of its energy from clean sources by 2050.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, accepted the award at the ceremony, reflecting the UAE's commitment to sustainable excellence. The award is a testament to the country's dedication to clean energy initiatives and its leadership in the energy sector.
DEWA's work on the solar park is in line with both the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, further reinforcing Dubai's leadership in clean energy transformation. The fourth phase of the solar park has already broken four Guinness World Records, showcasing the project's scale and technological advancement.
