South Lower Saxony secures aid for digital passenger number tracking system
The Amt für regionale Landesentwicklung Braunschweig has made an announcement regarding the implementation of an automated passenger counting system in public transport, specifically in the city of Goettingen.
The Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Sued-Niedersachsen (ZVSN), the organization responsible for the implementation, has received a grant of approximately 398,500 euros for this project. This financial support comes from the EU program "Zukunftsregionen in Niedersachsen."
The announcement, made in Goettingen, did not provide specific details about the automated passenger counting system. However, it did confirm the financial support for the public transportation project.
The project aims to use modern sensor technology to record passenger numbers across regional bus traffic in the districts of Göttingen, Holzminden, and Northeim. The goal is to enable data-driven mobility planning and improve user-oriented bus schedules.
The exact date and time of the implementation have not been specified. This new addition to public transport in Goettingen is expected to bring improvements, although the specific benefits have not been indicated in this announcement.
