Spain's biotech sector flourished in 2024, with 66 new companies established. The country is now poised for leadership in the 'century of biotechnology'.

Catalonia, a European life sciences hub, led Spain in biotech companies and revenue. It invested €407m in R&D funding in 2024, contributing 8% to Spain's GDP. Spain ranks third in clinical trial activity, with biotechnology valued at over one billion euros.

BioSpain 2025 attracted 2,400 visitors and 250 exhibitors, setting new records. Despite the lack of information about the partner country, the conference underscored Spain's commitment to international collaboration, crucial for Europe's resilience and technological independence.

Spain's biotech sector expansion, led by Catalonia's investment and activity, positions the country for global leadership. The sector's strategic importance and growth potential were evident in the successful BioSpain 2025 conference.
