Russians Prefer Spring for Minor Car Repairs, According to a Study

Russian Standard Bank experts have shared insights into the seasonal spending patterns of car owners on minor repairs at service centers. The study reveals that the peak season for car repairs falls in the spring, accounting for 30% of all such operations for the year. The average cost for minor repairs during March-May this year is 5,400 rubles.

Following closely behind is autumn, with a 27% share and an average repair bill of 5,800 rubles for September-November 2024. Summer comes in third, with 23% of payments and a 5,300 ruble average check for minor repairs in the summer months.

In a previous study conducted by Fit Service, it was found that Chinese, Korean, and Russian models were the most budget-friendly cars to maintain and repair in Russia. The survey indicates that the average cost of maintaining Russian cars was 9,900 rubles, followed by Korean cars at 9,600 rubles and Chinese cars at 8,800 rubles.

British cars, however, were identified as the most expensive to maintain, with an average repair cost of 14,400 rubles. Italian and German cars rank second and third, respectively, at 13,500 and 12,300 rubles.

An earlier study by Fit Service revealed the most expensive car parts in Russia. The findings are not specified in this particular study.

While the new study provides valuable insights into the seasonal trends of car repair spending, it is essential to consider various factors affecting car maintenance costs. These include the brand and model, the age and condition of the vehicle, local market conditions, and fuel type.

For instance, luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW tend to be more expensive to maintain compared to more affordable brands like Lada and Hyundai. Newer vehicles generally require less maintenance than older ones. The availability and cost of spare parts, labor costs, and local regulations can significantly impact maintenance expenses. Additionally, diesel engines are usually more expensive to maintain than gasoline engines.

For more detailed and precise data on the most and least expensive cars to maintain and repair in Russia in 2024, consulting specific studies or reports from Fit Service and Russian Standard Bank is recommended.
