Stellantis Recalls 1.5M Diesels Over Camshaft Chain Issue
Stellantis is recalling over 1.5 million diesel vehicles across Europe due to a potential issue with the camshaft chain. The affected cars may exhibit abnormal noise and, in severe cases, chain breakage. Stellantis has not reported any accidents or injuries linked to this problem.
The recall covers vehicles produced between October 2017 and January 2023, equipped with the 1.5 BlueHDi diesel engine. This includes models from Peugeot, Citroën, Opel/Vauxhall, DS, and Fiat. Approximately 650,000 cars from other European countries are affected, along with almost 930,000 vehicles in France and an additional 117,000 in Belgium.
Stellantis has developed a special repairer application to detect the issue. The rework consists of a software update and changing the oil, if necessary. Stellantis will cover 100% of parts and labor costs for up to 10 years or 240,000 kilometers for eligible repairs between 1 January 2023 and 30 June 2025.
Stellantis urges owners of the affected vehicles to contact their local dealership for more information and to schedule a repair at no cost. The company aims to complete all necessary repairs to ensure the safety and reliability of their customers' vehicles.
