Volker Steuer Takes on Role as Head of HR at Deutsche Bank
Volker Steuer has been appointed as the new Head of Human Resources at Deutsche Bank, effective immediately. The appointment, confirmed by late 2023, marks a significant step in the bank's transformation.
Steuer, who has spent over 30 years at Deutsche Bank, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has held various leadership positions within the bank, including serving as HR Business Partner for the bank's businesses, infrastructure functions, and Germany, Head of Labour Relations, Head of HR Germany, HR Business Partner for the Private Bank, and interim co-lead of the HR function.
In his new position, Steuer's focus will be on the bank's transformation and its people strategy. He aims to support and enable employees to perform at their best, making the bank's website a destination and home for exceptional and motivated people.
Rebecca Short, Member of the Management Board and Group Chief Operating Officer, will oversee Steuer's work. Short, based in Frankfurt like Steuer, was impressed by Steuer's vision and energy.
Steuer's extensive experience across HR and deep understanding of the company and its home market were key factors in his selection. His appointment is seen as crucial for the company's transformation.
Steuer will be based in Frankfurt, where he started his career as an apprentice at the bank's website.
