Stock Market Pre-Open Insights: Essential Facts to Consider Before Trading Begins

Get set for a potential downturn in U.S. stocks as indexes took a hit yesterday. Today, investors are figuring out the latest developments in tariffs, preparing for more inflation data, and waiting for results from major companies like Adobe. Here's a breakdown of what's happening now:

1. U.S. Stock Futures Point South

U.S. stock futures are plummeting after indexes fell yesterday, as investors weigh theStatus of Tariff Developments and brace for additional inflation data today. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are dropping 0.7% following the index's tiny drop in the prior session. Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures are sliding 0.6% and 0.5%, respectively, after the indexes lost their three-session winning streaks yesterday. Bitcoin, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note, and oil futures are slipping. Gold futures are on the rise.

2. Boeing Stocks Fall After Plane Crash in India

Boeing (BA) shares are slumping 8% in pre-market trading after one of its planes crashed in India. Air India reported the Boeing 787-8 had 242 passengers and team members when it crashed shortly after liftoff from Ahmedabad, India, headed for London Gatwick Airport. The accident comes quickly after Boeing settled a Justice Department case related to two fatal 737 MAX crashes that cost the lives of more than 300 people.

3. Wholesale Inflation Anticipated to Rise in May

Wholesale inflation is expected to have picked up in May as the Producer Price Index (PPI) is set to be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswire predict the reading to show a 0.2% rise in wholesale prices from the previous month, following a 0.5% drop in April. Core wholesale inflation is projected to have increased 0.3%, reversing a 0.1% drop in April. The report follows yesterday's Consumer Price Index reading for May, which came in lower than expected.

4. Oracle Stocks Take Off as Cloud Infrastructure Revenue Soars

Oracle (ORCL) shares are soaring 9% in pre-market trading after the software firm reported better-than-anticipated results on strong growth of cloud infrastructure revenue. Oracle reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.70 on revenue that escalated 11% year-over-year to $15.9 billion, both surpassing Visible Alpha consensus estimates. Cloud infrastructure revenue shot up 52% to $3 billion, becoming Oracle's fastest-growing segment. CEO Safra Catz said Oracle expects its cloud infrastructure growth rate to increase to over 70% in fiscal 2026 from 50% in fiscal 2025, surpassing expectations.

5. Adobe to Report Results After Market Closes Today

Adobe (ADBE) shares are inching higher in pre-market trading as investors gear up for the graphic software maker's fiscal second-quarter results, set to be released after markets close today. Adobe logged record quarterly revenue in March but issued an outlook that underwhelmed investors. Out of the 17 Adobe analysts tracked by Visible Alpha, 10 rate the stock a "buy," six are "neutral," and one rates it a "sell." Adobe's stock has fallen about 7% so far this year.
