Streamlining Efforts: Breminale Organisers Strive to Reduce, Preserve Festivities

**Breminale Faces Financial Challenges Despite Solidarity Ticket Sales**

The annual Breminale festival in Germany is gearing up for its 2023 edition, but organisers are grappling with financial constraints, primarily due to rising costs of securing big main acts.

According to Anna Berkhout's interview for the TV website, the Breminale has seen a decrease in the number of major acts, partly due to the escalating prices. Despite this, the festival is hopeful for a successful event, with the pre-sale for solidarity tickets running until July 13, the last event day.

The solidarity ticket sales have generated approximately 20,000 euros this year, a figure that is 10,000 euros less than last year. However, the festival organisers remain optimistic, with Mr. von Doellen attempting to reduce costs in the Breminale this and last year, mainly by focusing on infrastructure, such as eliminating the need for a flood stage and reducing personnel costs and equipment rentals.

The Breminale, which starts at the Osterdeich on Wednesday and continues until July 13, is known for its reliance on the success of the catering for its income. The catering income is estimated to be roughly 300,000 to 400,000 euros, accounting for approximately 40 to 50 percent of total income. Good weather is crucial for encouraging people to stay longer at the Breminale and enjoy the catering.

The festival organisers are hopeful for good weather, as forecasts predict sunny conditions from Wednesday onwards. The weather's impact on attendance and spending is significant, with poor weather leading to reduced attendance and lower revenue.

In addition to ticket sales and catering income, sponsorships and partnerships also play a role in the Breminale's financial stability. The festival is yet to release specific details about these aspects.

As the Breminale prepares for its 2023 edition, the focus remains on efficient cost management and attracting attendees to ensure a successful event. The sale of solidarity tickets is currently behind compared to last year, with around 800 tickets sold so far.

Radio Bremen could potentially secure additional financing for the Breminale by exploring partnerships and sponsorships to help offset the financial challenges faced by the festival, due to rising costs and decreased ticket sales. Good weather during the festival is crucial for the success of the catering business, which significantly contributes to the Breminale's income, and hence, also affects its overall financial stability.
