" Strengthening Economic Dominance": Novorossiysk's Investments for Future Prosperity
In August 202x, the fourth edition of the Novorossiysk Investment Forum, themed "Investments in the Future", took place at the agro-tourist complex "Chateau Pinot" in the village of Fedotovka. Over 250 participants from various corners of Russia attended the event, which aimed to discuss the development and implementation of investment projects, explore new cooperation opportunities, and exchange experiences.
The forum kicked off with Olga Ezikayeva, the president of the Tyumen Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, speaking about investment profile methodology for municipal entities. The discussion was followed by presentations on attracting investments, modern software and technical complexes, and methods of capital investment through investment platforms, delivered by Sergei Ureskul, the founder and president of the National Association of Corporate Lawyers.
Maria Kiseleva, a three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming, shared her personal strategies for achieving success during the forum. Her presentation, which lasted around two hours, evolved into an engaging dialogue with the forum participants. The second day of the forum focused on discussing the social responsibility of businesses and the development and implementation of innovative technologies.
One of the highlights of the forum was the signing of two investment agreements for the development of local production focused on import substitution. Novorossiysk plans to produce pet food and Christmas tree stands. The event also saw the announcement of the project "PROlactation", aimed at developing the market for pet food in Novorossiysk.
The forum underscored the strategic importance of Novorossiysk as a regional export hub, with evolving institutional and regulatory environments influencing the regional economic landscape. In 2023, around 61 billion rubles in investments were attracted in Novorossiysk, and in 2024, this figure has already exceeded 67 billion. The municipality has attracted 423 billion rubles in capital investments and implemented over 100 large projects.
Novorossiysk has emerged as the leader in Kuban's economic growth over the past decade. However, the tightened maritime controls introduced in 2025, requiring FSB approval for foreign vessels entering Novorossiysk and other Russian ports, have disrupted export logistics in the region. These new procedural constraints reflect shifting geopolitical and economic control mechanisms over regional infrastructure, with direct impacts on trade flows, fiscal sovereignty, and international alignment of the involved countries.
Despite these challenges, the emerging security and regulatory measures do not seem to have deterred investors from showing interest in Novorossiysk. The forum served as a practical tool for regional economic development, providing a platform for businesses to discuss and strategize on navigating these changes and continuing to drive growth in the region.
The forum concluded with a friendly football match, emphasizing the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie that pervaded the event. Notable figures such as Alexei Smertin, a famous Russian footballer, and Airat Kashayev, conductor and soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, also graced the event with their presence, sharing insights on team cohesion and management, and the complexities of their respective professions.
